Skype arrives on the PlayStation Vita

There are few platforms left out there that don’t support Skype and now there is one less because Skype has just released a version of its app for the PlayStation Vita.
This is the same Skype app that we all know and love from the other platforms. It lets you do free voice and video calls to any other Skype user using the built-in mic and dual cameras on the PSVita. If you purchase Skype credit you will also be able to call mobile and landline numbers from the app.
The Skype app on the PSVita runs in the background, so if you are playing a game, you will get a notification on the screen, at which point you can pause the game, switch over to the Skype app and then choose to accept or reject the call. This is not much different from how Skype works on other platforms, except for Windows Phone, which still does not support running Skype in the background (despite Microsoft owning the service).
The app is free to download and can be downloaded from the PlayStation Store. It works on both the 3G as well as the Wi-Fi version of the PSVita.
